My Morning Cacao Elixir Recipe



Life can be stressful and chaotic at times so it can be nice to give your adrenals and nervous system a decent break from the extra stress of caffeine. I have recently had to give caffeine a break and I have incorporated this morning cacao elixir into my routine and the benefits have been surprising. Cacao is a natural mood enhancer, therefore I find it still gives me the boost in endorphins that I would feel from my cup of coffee, just minus the jitters. Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk (your choice)

  • 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder

  • 1 tablespoon honey, maple syrup or coconut sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Pinch sea salt


Method: First, whisk raw cacao powder into cold milk with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, a splash of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt (which balances the flavors) until smooth. Whisking the cacao into the milk before heating it allows it to dissolve completely (if you add it to hot milk it can clump up). Warm the hot chocolate on the stove, and you’re DONE!
